Whirling Thunder Wellness

The Whirling Thunder Wellness Program, through the Winnebago Public Health Department, offers both youth and adults programs in disease prevention and health promotion.  The gym at Whirling Thunder provides a variety of activities to promote and maintain weight loss and a healthy, active lifestyle. Additionally, an aquatics program is offered to residents as an additional avenue to maintain good health and wellness for all ages.

The Diabetes Program’s philosophy is to provide a standard of care that creates optimal diabetes health care for each individual within a comfortable and pleasant environment so that each visit is a positive experience.

Mission: The Whirling Thunder Wellness Program fights diabetes by empowering individuals and families to live a healthy life in balance through programs and clinical services.

DIABETES CLINIC:

Diabetes Clinic is held weekly on Thursdays from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Patients can expect an individualized Diabetes Care Plan with an integrated team. Services provide through this clinic include:

  • Diabetes medication review
  • Diabetes medication adjustments and prescription
  • Diabetes labs
  • Goal setting
  • Foot inspection and exam
  • Comprehensive examination
  • Follow-up appointments in accordance with the individual treatment plan
  • Coordinate specialties in accordance with treatment plan such as nutrition team, case management, exercise staff, classes or ongoing diabetes education visits
