Do I need a State of Nebraska hunting license to hunt deer on the Winnebago Reservation?

No. A State of Nebraska hunting license is not required to hunt or fish on the Winnebago Reservation

 

What are the deer hunting methods?

Archery. There will be no rifle or muzzleloader seasons for the 2023 deer season.

 

How many tree stands can I use?

Max of two tree stands per person.

 

How many deer do I get with the purchase of a 2023 Deer Hunting Permit?

You will receive 1 (one) buck tag and 1 (one) doe tag.

 

How is the buck population in Winnebago?

Rate is 46%. Average buck weight is 228 lbs. Average inside spread is 16.14 inches. Average points are 9.75. Quality is 88%. Buck populations are stable and hunting is good.

 

What are the size regulations?

Spread must be 15” or above and girth weight must be 40” or above.

 

Is pre-season scouting allowed?

Yes. You cannot have guns, bows, etc. in your possession while you are scouting the area. Please check in at the Winnebago Wildlife & Parks Department beforehand!

 

Do you provide guided hunts?

Guides are prohibited. All hunts are self-guided. You will be provided with hunting maps along with your hunting permit.

 

How many acres are available to hunt in Winnebago?

The Winnebago reservation is 166,000 acres. 31,000 acres are available for hunting!

 

What areas are available to hunt (on the map)?

Areas available to hunt are labelled “tribal trust land” and “BIA allotted land”.

 

Are there limits on the number of people you can have in a hunting group?

Yes. Hunting group must not exceed 5 people.

 

Are ATVs and 4-wheelers allowed during hunting seasons?

No. ATVs and 4-wheelers are prohibited.

 

Are crossbows allowed during archery seasons?

Crossbows are prohibited unless you have a medical condition that affects your use of a

compound bow. You must present a physician’s note stating this.

 

Is spot lighting allowed?

No. Spotlighting is prohibited.
